What is Cornerstone CGE?
Cornerstone CGE is an open access, virtual learning center that is committed to capacity building in applied general equilibrium analysis. Cornerstone CGE provides teaching and learning resources that are freely available to anyone, anywhere, helping learners overcome financial, logistical and institutional barriers to building essential skills in CGE modeling. About Our Teaching and Learning Resources
Cornerstone CGE provides a comprehensive body of teaching and learning resources that present an introduction to computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling. The materials are arranged as a course, aimed at the undergraduate university level. They employ state-of-the-art pedagogical practices for effective on-line learning, and are designed to be accessible, intuitive, and engaging for all types of learners.
Independent learners can work through the materials at their own pace. By developing strong foundational skills, learners lay the groundwork for success in further training in CGE modeling. Teachers can utilize Cornerstone CGE’s resources to develop or enhance their own courses on general equilibrium analysis. Periodically, Cornerstone CGE offers a free, tutored course targeted to faculty and learners residing in low and lower middle-income countries. Our next tutored course will be held January 5 to February 13, 2026.
Cornerstone CGE materials are “open educational resources,” or OERs, shared under Creative Commons 4.0 copyright license BY-NC-SA. This means that users are free to distribute, remix, adapt or build upon our work non-commercially, as long as they credit Cornerstone CGE and license their new creations under the identical terms.
Coming in 2026! The PDQ Executive Series for executives, policy makers and research managers. Short 15-minute presentations provide high-level briefings on the essentials of a general equilibrium perspective, overviews of widely-used CGE models, and coverage of theory, data, key assumptions and questions to ask.

Cornerstone CGE materials are hosted on the multi-award winning Open University OpenLearn Create platform in the United Kingdom. Everything on OpenLearn Create is free to everyone. You can access all Cornerstone CGE materials by registering on Open University OpenLearn Create and searching for the free course: “Fundamentals of Computable General Equilibrium Modeling.”
